Software Reuse in Agile Development Organizations - A Conceptual Management Tool

    Get PDF
The reuse of knowledge is considered a major factor for increasing productivity and quality. In the software industry knowledge is embodied in software assets such as code components, functional designs and test cases. This kind of knowledge reuse is also referred to as software reuse. Although the benefits can be substantial, software reuse has never reached its full potential. Organizations are not aware of the different levels of reuse or do not know how to address reuse issues. This paper proposes a conceptual management tool for supporting software reuse. Furthermore the paper presents the findings of the application of the management tool in an agile development organization

Biocatalytic Synthesis of Maltodextrin-Based Acrylates from Starch and alpha-Cyclodextrin

Novel 2-(beta-maltooligooxy)-ethyl (meth) acrylate monomers are successfully synthesized by CGTase from Bacillus macerans catalyzed coupling of 2-(beta-glucosyloxy)-ethyl acrylate and methacrylate with a-cyclodextrin or starch. HPLC-UV analysis shows that the CGTase catalyzed reaction yields 2-(beta-maltooligooxy)-ethyl acrylates with 1 to 15 glucopyranosyl units. H-1 NMR spectroscopy reveals that the beta-linkage in the acceptor molecule is preserved during the CGTase catalyzed coupling reaction, whereas the newly introduced glucose units are attached by alpha-(1,4)-glycosidic linkages. The synthesized 2-(beta-maltooligooxy)-ethyl acrylate monomers are successfully polymerized by aqueous free radical polymerization to yield the comb-shaped glycopolymer poly(2-(beta-maltooligooxy)-ethyl acrylate)

Summary evaluation e-NV200 'Power to Amsterdam' project: February - June 2015

In the Netherlands, the automobile manufacturer Nissan has initiated a unique project to stimulate the uptake of electric vehicles (EV) for commercial usage. This project is called “Power to Amsterdam” and started by the end of 2014. In the project, Nissan has enabled entrepreneurs in the region of Amsterdam to drive the full electric e-NV200 for a period of 6 to 12 months. After this period, the participants can decide whether to purchase/lease the vehicle or to return it to Nissan. The e-NV200 can be used for passengers (max. 7 persons) and as van (loading space of 4,2 m3). The aim of the project is to increase the experience with EV. This is important from both a public (i.e. decrease air and noise pollution) and private perspective (increase EV sales) as well as to enhance knowledge in this field
